Top 2 Keys to Dress for Success

Hi there,

I’m not sure if you knew this but your image is showing…don’t fret; I’ve got you covered! Below are the top 2 keys to ensure you are outfitted for success.

Key 1: Dress for Your Body Shape

Pear shape, hourglass figure, long torso and short legs, short torso and long legs, this may sound all too familiar and at times hurtful. Let me ask you this, having heard something along those lines before, have you done anything with your wardrobe to create the illusion you want to portray?

First and foremost, it’s important to understand there are a number of factors that are incorporated in deciding what is flattering on your figure. In the styling world, we refer to this as a “full body analysis”. The goal here is to point out and understand the following attributes that make up your body shape. These include accessing: bone structure, height, weight, face shape, age, neck length and circumference, shoulder size, horizontal body type as well as vertical body type. After conducting your full style analysis you now are equipped with the appropriate tools to shop for your shape.

Key 2: Sporting the wrong colors

No, I’m not talking about wearing Lakers colors when in fact you are a Mavericks fan; I’m referring to wearing colors that compliment your look. The key here is to wear your clothes not let the clothes wear you. Before figuring out what colors are correct for you and what colors are wrong for you, a color analysis should be taken. A color analysis entails three phases.

Phase One is to understand what wearing the wrong or conversely the correct colors have the ability to do to your image. Bottom line, wearing the wrong colors makes you look older, tired, and even heavier. However, wearing the correct colors has the ability of making you look younger, healthier and slimmer.

Phase Two entails doing a mirror check. While looking in the mirror you want to take note of the following characteristics: your skin complexion, your hair color and your eye color. Now, you have the knowledge that is needed to graduate Phase Two and enter Phase Three.

Phase Three is all about pinpointing colors that are complimentary to you. Again, having a deeper understanding of which color category you fall under is imperative in selecting your correct colors. The four main color categories are broken into seasons: Spring colors, Autumn colors, Winter colors and Summer colors. Visualize what colors you see outside during that season and there you will discover what colors compliment you.
