Tips for a successful party on the golf course

When people think of parties at golf courses, usually, the first thing that comes to mind is a wedding reception. Well, it’s time we start looking at golf courses a little differently. Golf courses are a great place to celebrate Bachelor and Bachelorette parties, birthdays, throwing fundraising parties, and more. Below are tips you can use to throw a successful party on the Green.

Let’s talk about the money. You want to keep it relatively inexpensive for you and your guests. Most likely, you will have varying golf levels within your group; you don’t want your beginner friends to shell out a ton of cash for a sport they’re not very good at. Those newbies will probably also be renting equipment, so keep that in mind. Keep in mind that some courses offer discounts for larger groups. Contact the course you’re considering and ask about their group rates.

Another thing to remember is that you will probably be grabbing a bite to eat. Consider getting something small while you golf (most courses have beverage and food carts that roam around), and then having a sit-down dinner at the course restaurant. This will save your guests some money as several sit-downs can get pricey. Booking a place that is decent and fairly priced will ensure that your guests have a great time without breaking the bank.

Location, location, location. Depending on the occasion, you may or may not have something else planned for the rest of the day. If you are taking the party elsewhere after 18 holes, consider the location of the course. You want it to be fairly close to whatever else you have planned. Your guest will enjoy themselves more if they don’t have to travel a considerable amount. You can also plan carpools or rent party buses to haul your guests to the course. Providing a ride will ensure everyone gets there on time—avoiding missed tee-times.

If your invitees are driving, make sure directions on the invitations are clear and easy to read. There’s nothing worse than having to wait on a few people while your group is itching to get started.

Reserve in advance. Speaking of tee-times, you want to reserve a few consecutive tee-times well in advance to ensure your group gets to golfing as soon as possible. When making the initial reservation, assume that everyone will show. It’s always a good idea to have too much time, rather than rushing your group. You can always adjust the tee-time reservations to reflect the actual guest count.

Golfing is always more fun when you are with your buddies, reserving tee-times will prevent your group from having to split up.

Most important: have fun. When planning parties, it’s very easy to get caught up in ensuring everyone has a great time. Let it go. You can’t always please everyone, so just relax and enjoy the company of your coworkers, family, or friends. No matter if you and your guest are avid golfers or just along to drive the carts, the most important thing to remember is to HAVE FUN.
